palm springs.

i’ll see ya soon.

well, not soon soon.  but soon enough.

one, two, three, four, five bucks.

will it fit in the carry-on?  i think it has to.

so much to discuss…

22 09 2009

…and yet so little of significance.

first, ricky gervais.  i cannot begin to tell you how much i love a funny man.  emmys 2009?  ya see him?  click here (bonus – jon stewart is also in the clip.)  ricky gervais has a new movie coming out – “the invention of lying” – i have a feeling i’ll be there opening day (october 2nd) for the first showing.

oprah.  monday’s show.  a 60s inspired retro show.  oprah looked fabulous.  especially her hair. the audience was all decked out in 60s garb as well.  the show itself was so-so, but the mad men segment was worth it.

letterman.  obama.   good stuff.  the heart shaped potato?  i was dyin’.

organic made-from-scratch spanish rice.  made by me.  no lie.  DSCF3038

on a rice cracker.  somehow “rice crackers as utensils” just doesn’t have the same flow to it as “chips as utensils.”  and besides, it’s rice overload.  rice on rice.  that’s too much rice.       DSCF3041

and so i give you spanish rice on a chip:DSCF3042

and i continue to bring yet even more sexy in the brown fall boots.  another low-heeled version.  this time from privo.DSCF3052

and a crafty mini quilt all framed:

and goodbye summer.  i can’t bear it.  hello fall.

and what better to go with that spanish rice than a margarita in a gold wheat glass on a vintage red leaf plastic coaster?  is the wheat glass fall-ish?  i say it’s harvesty.  and harvesty = fall.  fall harvest.  and that’s about all the enthusiasm i can muster to welcome launch the fall season.DSCF3056

Outbid Rain

19 09 2009

this is my new indian name.  outbid rain.  it pretty much sums up 2009 precisely.  i have been outbid on so many houses i’ve lost count.  and let’s face it.  it was a record year for rainfall here in the northeast.  outbid rain.  i’m going to monogram some towels with the initials “OR.”

my house hopes have been dashed yet again.  i’m pretty sure i’m down for the count as far as getting that 8 grand tax rebate for first-time home buyers.

but today is sunny.  so, “yay.”

“drawing board, drawing board, where for art thou, drawing board?”

and ’til i get back to that dreaded drawing board, i’m bringing the sexy in my new low-heel mccabe børn fall boots.

if for some reason i don’t buy a house i am so buying these boots from anthropologie:juxtaposition booties

i love them.  i love this look.  i’m stealing the look for fall ’09.  i’ll be so style-y on all my dates.

good one.

the fourth

can something be considered vintage if it’s only 12 years old?  probably not.  more like outdated.  out of style.  i don’t care.  i love ’em and i can’t part with ’em and i break ’em out once or twice a year.  the “vintage” dr. scholl flag shoes:

and my independence day attempt at decor:

nothing quite trumps those shoes, though.

dinner and drinks at a friend’s house last evening – drinks were supposed to be on the deck, but alas, you guessed it – rain.  rain rain rain.  it cleared up for a minute and i got this shot:DSCF0767

i didn’t get a picture of the celebratory cocktail, but i highly recommend –  the strawberry muddle.  easy and refreshing.  because you need refreshing in these rainy, chilly temps.

happy 4th of july!  i’m one of the lucky ones who gets to work this holiday.  and yes, the sun is SHINING.  think of me fondly while you’re picnicking and potato salading and lobstering and i’m locked in a dark room with no windows massaging my brains out.

will ya look at the veins in that hand?

25 01 2009

so, probably like all of you out there, i have been in a mad search for a wool felt loop pillow.  i think i saw one on a crate and barrel website in ivory, and for the life of me, i couldn’t relocate it. you’ll be relieved to know i went to homegoods and found a charcoal gray one for $12 in the clearance bin!!!!!!!  not exactly the same as i had in my mind’s eye, but even better i think.

here’s a close-up:

dscf0355huh?  huh?  not bad.

ok, so, what’s the story with the capital E jeans from levi’s?  i loves myself some levi’s.  and let’s face it, i love a good deal.  as i was filling up a big bag to take to goodwill, i threw in quite a few pairs of dated levi jeans, and just on a hunch i had looked them up on ebay to see if i was donating stuff that could be worth hundreds (i wasn’t.)  what i did see was “capital E levi’s.”   and then i read about the “capital E’s” and saw where there were probably 1000s of knock-offs.  although that may have been for “vintage capital E’s.”  i dunno, did i get a knock-off pair?

dscf0350cuz, that’s a wicked good deal, isn’t it?  they fit like the ever-popular “boyfriend” jeans.  HA.  good one.  boyfriend.

they’re just missing that one key ingredient.  and that would be a “capital E” on the red tab.  mmm.  mine have a small e.  something ain’t right.  or is it?
