Outbid Rain

19 09 2009

this is my new indian name.  outbid rain.  it pretty much sums up 2009 precisely.  i have been outbid on so many houses i’ve lost count.  and let’s face it.  it was a record year for rainfall here in the northeast.  outbid rain.  i’m going to monogram some towels with the initials “OR.”

my house hopes have been dashed yet again.  i’m pretty sure i’m down for the count as far as getting that 8 grand tax rebate for first-time home buyers.

but today is sunny.  so, “yay.”

“drawing board, drawing board, where for art thou, drawing board?”

and ’til i get back to that dreaded drawing board, i’m bringing the sexy in my new low-heel mccabe børn fall boots.

won 12 bucks in lotto.

i feel it.  i’m on a winning streak.

don’t all desperate people say this?

learned to drive on a volkswagen bug bought here back in the early 70s.  the place no longer exists – torn down and replaced by a 99 restaurant (tragic.)  so a fine nostalgic collector’s item for me at 59¢.

i feel like the girl who cried wolf.  hired a contractor to check out a house for me and draw up an estimate for needed repairs.  and now i’m gonna try and buy a house (again.)  i’ve heard this story before.

and again i craft.DSCF3024

did i mention something about heat in my last post?  cuz i’m hear to tell you, the heat is LONG gone, and chilly temps have settled in. like, sweater weather and fleece socks temps.  and i don’t like it one bit.  too soon.  much too soon.  i will say this week looks promising as far as sunny skies and comfortable temps returning, but i think i’m going to miss the heat.

yes, i finished that little craft project i started.  it hardly took any time at all.  i’m not quite satisfied with its visual punch.  but at least it got my feet wet again with the crafting and creative side of my life.  DSCF0971

the idea i totally copied inspiration:DSCF0968

(from the crafts design book, beaudette smith)

obviously i was going for a much simpler version.  if you picture this hanging in a little white cottage, with white walls and white painted floors and all my fabulous vintage danish/swedish/norwegian finds, i think it’ll pass as high art.  in my little brain it does.DSCF0983_editedhere it sits nestled amongst one of several piles of art that i can’t hang on my walls due to landlord law.

oh, the house hunt drama.  alas, the cottage won’t be mine.  i got outbid.  and then those buyers backed out.  and so i re-bid.  but got outbid again.  what’s new?  but will the original dream house now become a contender once again?  it’s a serious game of cheap house ping-pong.  and i’m getting pinged and ponged all over the place.

(long distance bday wishes going out to midwest jen celebrating her birthday in bed with a good book and bad tv.  that’s just sad.  it’s a monday birthday and monday birthdays are the worst.)

a little on-the-side

what is the male version of “mistress?”  is there such a word?  i guess “manstress.”  in any event…

my little cottage lovah-on-the-side took a 10 grand drop in price, now making it a serious contender.DSCF0789

my ♥ still belongs to my green, slanty, overgrown love that is probably dangerously too close to powerlines and has the little issue of rotted wood and mold in the middle panel of the greenhouse.  and oh yah, no fridge in the kitchen (nor room for one.)  i can’t help it.  the character in this house appeals to me.  (not to mention its close proximity to a liquor grocery store, thrift store/gas station/hospital (ya never know)/and work.

posting could be light around here for a little while.  i’ve got to figure out a life plan and let’s face it, that could take some time.  it’s been 49 years and i still haven’t knocked out a life plan.  i’m on the lookout for an extra way to earn some moulah, all the while trying to get these real estate people to agree to a 203K mortgage loan.  i’ll be back if something earth-shattering happens, but i don’t believe i’ve written anything earth-shattering to date.

in other non-related, non-earth-shattering news, i heard “mad men” is coming back with its new season august 16th (thank you, lorraine.)   oh thank heavens!  talk about wanting a “manstress.”don in hat_editedcall me.

vying for my love

today i cheated on the house that did me wrong and now wants me back with this cottage/bungalow:DSCF0789

it’s definitely got its plusses.  that front porch for one.

charm gets me every time.  it’s kind of out in the boonies, though.  not near anything, like a package grocery store or gas station.  farm country.  huge, funky 2 car garage complete with (an unfinished) loft space i could eventually turn into a massage room maybe (with all that extra money i have.)

minuses are:  the kitchen stinks, there’s only one bathroom and no fireplace.  and it’s a tad more expensive than my old lover.  and would require more elbow grease.  but it’s doable.  anyway, it gives me a choice.  something to think about over the weekend while i’m daydreaming focusing completely on my massage clients.

fyi, i peed behind that big bush on the left.   now there’s my second bathroom.

the universe…

…is toying with my feelings.  the house “they” didn’t want to sell me has now resurfaced on the market for 8 grand less than i offered them.  i ain’t getting it.  something’s up.

do i go back to the one who’s treated me so wrong or do i move forward?  lovahs, houses – it’s all so complicated.DSCF0503

so ugly on the outside.  so darn charming on the inside.
